Stable capillary hypersurfaces and the partitioning problem in balls with radial weights

چکیده

In a round ball B⊂Rn+1 endowed with an O(n+1)-invariant metric we consider radial function that weights volume and area. We prove compact two-sided hypersurface in B which is stable capillary weighted sense symmetric about some line containing the center of homeomorphic to closed n-dimensional disk. When combined Hsiang symmetrization other stability results this allows deduce interior boundary any isoperimetric region for Gaussian weight n-disk revolution. For n=2 also show surface genus 0 disk

Nonuniform Graph Partitioning with Unrelated Weights

We give a bi-criteria approximation algorithm for the Minimum Nonuniform Partitioning problem, recently introduced by Krauthgamer, Naor, Schwartz and Talwar (2014). In this problem, we are given a graph G = (V,E) on n vertices and k numbers ρ1, . . . , ρk. The goal is to partition the graph into k disjoint sets P1, . . . , Pk satisfying |Pi| ≤ ρin so as to minimize the number of edges cut by th...

Iterative Partitioning with Varying Node Weights

The balanced partitioning problem divides the nodes of a [hyper]graph into groups of approximately equal weight (i.e., satisfying balance constraints) while minimizing the number of [hyper]edges that are cut (i.e., adjacent to nodes in di erent groups). Classic iterative algorithms use the pass paradigm [24] in performing single-node moves [16, 13] to improve the initial solution. To satisfy pa...

Euclidean Balls Solve Some Isoperimetric Problems with Nonradial Weights

In this note we present the solution of some isoperimetric problems in open convex cones of R in which perimeter and volume are measured with respect to certain nonradial weights. Surprisingly, Euclidean balls centered at the origin (intersected with the convex cone) minimize the isoperimetric quotient. Our result applies to all nonnegative homogeneous weights satisfying a concavity condition i...
